So that was yesterday huh? Jee I was kinda hoping we could turn them round to be a service that provided easily digestible sound medical advice to the layman.

Once they're dissolved, the name will be available for registration.

Just sayin'

I dunno, I don't like this, she's up to something. Will this excuse her from facing sanctions from authorities? Can you shut down a business then re-open it with a clean slate? I'm skeptical.

And so you should be.

Of course, we could get in touch with ASIC and see what mechanisms are in place to prevent this - it's the kind of thing that must happen quite often - businesses closing to avoid regulatory issues...

It will not absolve her from any sanctions. If an incorp. assoc. has done anything 'wrong' the board members can be held individually responsible, and they have no protection under the Act. This also applies to retired board members if the naughtiness occurred during their time on the board.
She may be voluntarily winding it up, but can only do so if there are no outstanding liabilities. If this is the case, that last donation drive must have been a beauty :)
